The Velux Captain Film is an ideal solution to improve the comfort of rooms equipped with roof windows while maintaining beautiful natural light. Thanks to its multilayer technology, it limits the impact of solar radiation and reduces the heat that can accumulate under roofs, while keeping the interior bright and pleasant.
This film can be applied directly to the glazing of roof windows. It is designed to adapt to inclined surfaces and benefits from a high-performance adhesive that ensures excellent long-term hold, even against temperature variations, prolonged sun exposure and external weather conditions.
In addition to improving thermal comfort, the Velux film is discreet and aesthetic. It integrates perfectly with roof windows without altering their appearance or the architectural harmony of the building.
Taking measurements is an essential step to guarantee a clean finish and optimal efficiency of the Velux film. Start by measuring the visible width and height of the glazing, without including the seals, glazing beads or frames.
It is recommended to keep the smallest measurement and allow for a reduction of 2 to 3 millimetres on each side. This margin prevents the window film from touching the frame, which could affect its adhesion and durability.
Precise measurements and a precise order allow for faster application of the film and limit adjustments during installation to ensure a uniform and durable result.
The Velux film must be applied to a perfectly clean glass surface. Start by cleaning the glass with soapy water, a scraper and a squeegee to remove all impurities, even invisible ones. Then dry the edges and frames with a clean microfibre cloth.
Spray soapy water generously onto the glass surface. Remove the protective film and immediately moisten the adhesive side. Apply the film with the wet side against the glass starting from the top, then adjust its position.
Rub the film from the centre towards the edges to remove water and air. Trim any excess if necessary, making sure the film does not touch the seals or the frame. Leave the Velux film to dry for several weeks without handling it in order to achieve optimal adhesion and an impeccable final result.
